Kazan international airport moved beyond 2 500 000 transported passengers per year!
On December 12, 2017 the volume of passenger traffic at Kazan international airport reached the historical maximum – 2 500 000 passengers (served on arrival and departure).
Considerable growth of passenger traffic at Kazan airport was achieved largely due to the work on expansion of the route network and increase in the number of flights on already existing destinations. Thus, in 2017 such routes as Riga, Kaliningrad, Gorno-Altaysk, Surgut, Salekhard, Naryan-Mar, Novy Urengoy and Noyabrsk were opened. In addition to the new flights, frequency of flights increased in Sochi, Baku, Moscow, Dubai, Larnaca, Antalya, and other cities. At the same time, the volume of passenger traffic on international routes increased by 2 times.
Another important factor contributed to the achievement of high performance of the company is the implementation of its own development of Kazan airport - an innovative system "Mobile apron", allowing managing processes quickly, automatically allocating resources. Integrated baggage handling and sorting module allows reducing to zero the possibility of misrouted baggage. "Mobile apron" provides dispatchers a holistic view, including the location of each employee and each unit of equipment online.
Alexey Starostin, Director General of Kazan international airport JSC noted,
"From 2005 to 2017 passenger traffic at the airport increased by 6.5 times: from 393 thousand passengers up to more than 2.5 million passengers per year. Currently, 2 500 251 passengers have been served at Kazan international airport (sent and delivered), the increase was + 37.1%, that is, 676 886 passengers more than at the same period in 2016.
Passenger traffic on international routes has increased more than twice. Among the most popular international destinations are flights to Bangkok + 30%, Barcelona + 15%, Goa + 23%, Dubai + 205%, Ranh + 31%, Phuket + 21%, and Helsinki + 28%, as well as Dalaman, Prague and Frankfurt am Main. The largest number of passengers among international destinations was served in the direction of Antalya-375 000 passengers. Solid growth is also fixed in most areas of the CIS. Thus, passenger traffic on the flights to Baku has doubled.
The domestic destinations were served by 16.5% more than at the same period of 2016. Among the main drivers of the passenger traffic growth on domestic routes in 2017 can be identified such destinations as Moscow + 28%, St. Petersburg + 43%, Ufa + 99%, Nizhnevartovsk + 23%, as well as Gelendzhik + 87%. In 2017, the flights to Sochi, Krasnodar and other destinations were in sustained demand."
